Welcome to the website, Ernest Gimson and the Arts & Crafts Movement in Leicester.
The website has been created by a team at Leicester Arts & Museums Service with the help of The Friends of Leicester and Leicestershire Museums. It has been made possible by a generous bequest from the estate of the late Daphne Plunket of Leicester, a passionate collector of Arts and Crafts furniture and Gimson's work in particular. Daphne Plunket and her mother Mrs A Evans were very generous over the years, donating many pieces of furniture to Leicester Arts & Museums Service. We are very happy to be able to showcase those donations and all of our other work by Ernest Gimson, Ernest and Sidney Barnsley, Peter Waals, and Edward Barnsley along with a selection from the Dryad collection of international handicraft.

Thanks for additional images to the families of John Paul Cooper and Frank Green, Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum, De Montfort University, Loughborough University, Leicester University and the owners of Inglewood, the White House and Stoneywell.
