This cabinet, based on a design by Ernest Gimson dated 1910 (Cheltenham Art Gallery & Museum 1941.222.535), is a classic Cotswold Arts and Crafts piece combining a simple four-square outline with a rich surface combining the panelled doors with the brass drop box handles. The construction is shown with through tenons on the sides.
According to Waals’s workshop record book this piece was commissioned by W A Evans and cost £80.0.0 in November 1920.
