Cupboard, about 1906
Designed by Ernest Gimson and made in his Daneway workshop.
Oak with gouged decoration and brass handles
185 x 107.5 x 54.5cm
This piece is six-sided. The two central uprights have each been shaped to echo the three-sided front. The top is treated differently – it is nine sided and comes to a shallow point at the centre of each panel. The centre panel is fixed with doors at either side. These open to reveal three shelves which run right through the cupboard. The panelling is echoed in a slightly simpler form on the back.
